Nellie Rose Windsor Gets Her Wish with careful funeral planning
It was July 2009 when Nellie Windsor first came into Hanworth Branch to discuss her unique Pre paid funeral plans. A lady that knew exactly what she wanted. Pre Paid Funerals and funeral planning just became simpler for Nellie with our help.
“Do you watch Emmerdale?” She asked Sue Hall the Funeral Arranger, as she looked at the pictures of the horse drawn hearses on the wall. “I want one like that, but smaller, I want a donkey & dray.”
It was clear that Nellie was going to need some bespoke arrangements!
Sue immediately got to work looking on line for someone that could help with a donkey & dray. Her first call was to David Mills of Stonehill Donkeys in Cockshutt, near. Ellesmere. David confirmed he was happy to make the arrangements on a long-term basis, so Sue informed a very excited Nellie that she would have her donkey.
This was obviously very important to Nellie, as during the course of the next three years, she would phone Sue to see how she was, and would also call David to ask how he and the donkeys were.
Sue commented, “Nellie was a larger than life character and the day of her funeral was a mixture of happiness and sadness. A donkey-drawn hearse was a first for Lodge Brothers, so I had to make sure everything was perfect for her – and on the day, the sight of David with Ginger the dray and his support team approaching, I knew that Nellie would be very happy and proud.”
